The fonds consists of correspondence and a diary (1862) written by James Thomson, as well as genealogical notes on the Thomson family. The correspondence includes letters he wrote to his father, mother and sister in Scotland, and later to his wife in Edwardsburgh. Also includes an obituary notice of his son's (1949).

The fonds consists of fifty-two letters from Sir John A. Macdonald, ranging in dates from 1849-1891; one hundred and fifty-three letters from Hugh John Macdonald, from 1880-1895, twenty-seven letters from Lady Macdonald and Louise Macdonald and three hundred and sixty-seven letters and testimonials of a personal nature. These letters mostly concern the upbringing and education of Williamson's son, James Gilchrist Williamson and other family matters. There are a few expense accounts for the boy's education from his grandfather, John Gilchrist. There are also a number of university attendance cards, dating from Williamson's student days in Edinburgh. Also included are lectures, sketches, sermons and personal mementos. Of particular local interest is material pertaining to the Kingston Observatory.

The fonds consists of material created by Janet Braide in her work as a student, curator and art historian. The majority of the papers reflect the research, scholarship and logistics that went into her exhibition on William Brymner, though is is a small amount of material regarding her shows on Anne Savage and Prudence Heward as well. Of particular note in this group of records is an original typescript of a lecture given by Brymner, annotated in his hand. Also included in the fonds are Braide's student notes and papers from various courses and graduate studies, articles and writings for various periodicals, and correspondence pertaining to art history.
