Not much is known about the history of the Kingston Driving Club (also known as the Kingston Sleighing Club) other than what appears in this record. There is reason to believe that it may have existed before and after the dates of these minutes (1849-1851) but nothing definitive is known. The club appears to have been an organization which attracted members from various social backgrounds in the town of Kingston, with a mix of military and local community members.

The Kingston Economic Development Corporation (KEDCO) is the marketing and business development arm for the City of Kingston. Founded in 1997, the Corporation´s mission is to ensure that Kingston remains a world-class city by supporting economic growth and investment. KEDCO provides direct support to local companies requiring assistance in securing government funding, labour force support or government liaison. KEDCO works with site selectors in attracting new businesses with local real estate opportunities, including municipally owned industrial lands. KEDCO oversees The Entrepreneurship Centre, a provincially funded small business enterprise centre which provides resources, consultations and professional development for emerging and existing small businesses.

Founded in 1950, the Kingston Field Naturalists are a non-profit organization. Their objectives include: to acquire, record and disseminate knowledge of natural history; to stimulate public interest in nature and in the protection and preservation of wildlife; to acquire, receive and hold lands for the purpose of preserving their natural flora and fauna.

Kingston Film Council

The Kingston Film Council (KFC) was organized 1945 by a group of Kingstonians interested in Visual and Adult education. The first President was Mr. E. L. Earl. As a council many of the members were other organizations in and around Kingston. At its height there were over 100 member organizations . The Council acted as a distribution hub for films, supplier of rental equipment as well as hosting showings. Activities that the Council undertook were workshops on film utilization, training for Projectionists, outdoor showings and festivals. At various points the Council and the Department of Extension at Queen's University were quite interrelated.

KFC was a member of the Federation of Film Councils or Eastern Ontario which in turn was a member of the Ontario Association of Film Councils.
