The Liberal Party of Canada (Ontario) represents the Federal Liberal Party and its 106 Electoral District Associations in Ontario. The Liberal Party of Canada (Ontario) is administered by a volunteer Board, The "Management Committee" includes the seven Table Officers, the President of the Ontario Young Liberals (OYL), the President of the Ontario Women’s Liberal Commission (OWLC), the President of the Aboriginal People’s Liberal Commission (Ontario) (APLCO) and the six Regional Presidents.

The Liberal Party of Canada, a political party, was established in November 1932 as a federation of provincial Liberal Parties. Vincent Massey was the first president, followed by Norman P. Lambert in 1935. The National Office was disbanded after the 1940 general election, but reorganized in 1943 under the direction of the National Liberal Committee directed by J. Gordon Fogo and Alan G. McLean. Following the 1945 election the National Office reopened with McLean as Director and Fogo as President. During 1959-1960 the National Office was reorganized and expanded. The position of General Secretary was abolished and James Scott was appointed to the new position of Director of Organization in 1960. The name of the Federation was changed to Liberal Federation of Canada in 1964, and to Liberal Party of Canada in 1970. During the period 1967-1968 the National Office underwent a further reorganization and expansion, with the establishment of separate departments of Policy Research, Organization, Communications and Administration under the National Director.

Lewis, Wilfrid Bennett

Wilfrid Bennett Lewis was born in 1908 at Castle Carrock in Cumberland, England. He was educated at Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge where he earned a B.A. (Hons.) in 1930. He was awarded his Ph.D. in 1934 for work on the analysis of alpha-particle groups, and in the same year was elected a Research Fellow of Gonville and Caius College. From 1939 to 1946 he worked on improvements in radar for the Air Ministry Establishment (later to become the Telecommunications Research Establishment). In 1946 he resigned to take up the Directorship of the Division of Atomic Energy of the National Research Council of Canada. He was appointed Vice-President of Research and Development of Atomic Energy of Canada Limited in 1952 and Senior Vice-President in 1963. Upon his retirement in 1973 he took up a chair as Distinguished Professor of Science at Queen's University. He died in 1987.
Among the many honours accorded to Lewis were the Fellowship of the Royal Society, 1945 (awarded the Society's Royal Medal in 1972), C.B.E. 1946, the Fellowship of the Royal Society of Canada 1952 and the 1967 Atoms for Peace Award.
